Welcome to Cyndi Wolfe Textiles.

Thank you for dropping by. I hope you enjoy this glimpse into my fiber arts studio. My work is a reflection of my love for silk and the multitude of interlacement and dye techniques (spider games and colorful dreams) available to transform this miraculous fiber into wearable art.
I have been weaving on and off since I bought my first loom in 1980. When I retired from the business world in 2005, weaving and dyeing became the focus of my creative life. Cyndi Wolfe Textiles came into existence when I began selling some of my work.

In these pages you will find:
  • Hand-dyed and hand-woven silk scarves My silk scarves have the translucent look of watercolors because the warp is hand-painted with silk dyes before it is put on the loom. The use of silk and the color choices used in both warp and weft give it a glowing, shining look. Patterns are created using multicolored wefts and a variety of treadling patterns that enhance the interplay of colors.
  • Pins and closures made from vintage kimono fabric and embellished with beads, findings and embroidery. (For access to beautiful kimono fabric for your own projects, click on Ah! Kimono, the source of my raw materials).
  • Scarves and yardage made using the Japanese shibori dyeing technique. Shibori is a resist dye technique that uses tightly gathered knot work, stitching, clamping and/or wrapping to create ridges and valleys in the cloth creating areas that resist and areas that accept the dye. The patterns and textures in the finished cloth are lasting evidence of the path from cloth as blank canvas to finished scarf.
